Environmental public health professionals including Public Health inspectors who promote health through education, inspection and enforcement of a wide range of programs and services

That includes safer and healthier foods, control of infectious diseases, healthier environments, and the recognition of tobacco use as a health hazard.

Inspectors monitor food premises, recreational water, health care, childcare facilities, personal services, drinking water systems, land use, sewage systems, air quality, institutions and the control of health hazards within the community.

The health unit is celebrating Environmental Public Health Week, with the theme “Exploring the Edge”, which highlights the innovative approaches environmental health professionals take to existing and emerging public health concerns.
