Midwestern

Wet day, freezing night

Large areas of Midwestern Ontario are starting to feel the affects of the changing weather.

With the temperature settling around the freezing part for the latter part of the afternoon and into the evening, freezing rain is expected to continue through the overnight. Freezing rain started earlier in the evening in northern areas of the region and is expected to mix with snow overnight. For southern areas of the area, freezing rain is expected to continue overnight.

Bruce County Roads has declared a 'significant weather' event. It states that due to current or future conditions, caution is to be observed when travelling on Bruce County highways and that it may take longer than usual to bring the condition of the highways back to a state of repair. The Township of Georgian Bluffs has also issued a 'significant weather event', which affects their road patrols.

Power outages are also starting to spring up in the area. Although the clusters affect a small group of customers there are several. They are spread out near Lucknow, Glammis, up to near Wiarton, south of Owen Sound and also near Priceville. Ice build could cause more power outages through the night and residents are being asked to be prepared.

The weather has already led to a number of cancellations for Sunday morning which can be checked by clicking here.
