UPDATE: Snowfall warning ended

A snowfall warning has ended for midwestern Ontario, along with most of southern and eastern Ontario.

Environment Canada predicted 15 to 25 centimetres of snow along with high winds from the southeast at 40 km/hr and gusts up to 70 kilometres an hour. That will whip up the freshly fallen snow causing very low visibility at times in blowing snow today.

An additional 2 to 5 cm of snow is expected from lake effect flurries on Sunday.

Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. OPP West Region are getting multiple reports of vehicles in the ditch.

Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow.

Environment Canada says the snow will taper off by Sunday morning before temperatures fall.

Bruce County has declared a significant weather event, which is not a notice of a reduced level of service or of a road closure. The declaration is to notify the public that due to the current or forecasted conditions, caution is to be observed when travelling on Bruce County roads and that it may take longer than usual to bring the condition of the roads back to a state of repair.
