The Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation is hosting its 11th biennial "Is the Coast Clear?" conference on May 12th and 13th at the Oakwood Resort in Grand Bend.
Coastal Restoration Technician, Samantha Ventura says they're still booking speakers but they already have an impressive program.
Ventura says the theme of this year's conference is Lake Huron's Climate: What has Changed?
“Some of the topics that will be discussed will include invasive species, both aquatic and plant species, water levels as well as erosion on the bluffs, native species, such as reptiles like the hog-nosed snake and the piping plover," she said.
The conference provides a forum for environmental professionals and the general public to learn about issues affecting Lake Huron’s coastal environment. Experts from the Great Lakes region will speak about coastal topics, local actions and solutions to environmental challenges.
Tickets went on sale on February 1st and more information about the conference as well as tickets, can be found on the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation website.
