The Canadian Special Olympics Winter Games are officially underway.
As part of the Ontario contingent, seven athletes and three coaches from Kincardine are representing the area this week in Thunder Bay.
A spokesperson for the Kincardine team, Stacy MacGregor, said they've been receiving constant support from the community.
"We're so thankful to our community and everybody for helping us to get here and cheering us on every step of the way! We know it takes a lot more than a couple coaches and a few athletes to get here. It's definitely a community thing, and we're feeling the love from back home."
The opening ceremonies were held Tuesday night, and the games wrap up on Saturday.
The games were established in 1969, and are dedicated to enriching the lives of Canadians with an intellectual disability through sport.
