Snowy conditions in Midwestern Ontario

Lake effect snow squalls will provide blizzard-like conditions for a large portion of Midwestern Ontario on Thursday.

Snow squall warnings have been issued for Northern Huron, Northern Perth, Northern Wellington, as well as all of Bruce and Grey counties, while snow squall watches are in effect for Southern Huron and Southern Perth.

Snow is expected through the morning hours, however, snow squalls will become organized off of Lake Huron Thursday afternoon.

A couple squalls will likely intensify and take heavy snow well inland from the lake.

Snowfall rates under the most intense bands could exceed five centimetres per hour at times on Thursday, with some areas seeing snowfall amounts in excess of 40 centimetres by Friday morning.

Strong northwest winds will gust to 70 km/h will combine with the snow to generate zero visibility at times.

This snow squall event is expected to last until Saturday morning.

Travel will be "impossible" at times, according to Environment Canada, and motorists are advised to change their travel plans accordingly.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
