North Huron moves on subdivision plan

The municipality of North Huron is now ready to move ahead with a residential development called Hutton Heights.

Reeve Bernie Bailey says they have approved the lot configuration and the cost to move the Hutton Heights project forward.

“We picked the lot configuration and the cost of $5.3 million to move the Hutton Heights project forward, extending water from Wingham one kilometre for servicing and all external costs involved in developing Hutton Heights,” said Bailey.

Bailey also points out the project won't be a burden to tax payers.

“This is not a burden to tax payers, it is covered by selling the lots off when the project is finished. There are around a hundred lots that will be developed through this and there is room for expansion because there's land in Morris-Turnberry as well as North Huron that can be developed in that area.”

Bailey says there is a severe housing shortage in North Huron, as there is throughout southwestern Ontario and this new development should help in attracting badly needed labour to the municipality.
