More snow, reduced visibility

Updated at 12:00pm.

Plows are out across the region today.

More snow is expected through the evening, with up to 15cm accumulating by tonight. A snow squall warning remains in place.

Road conditions are described as snow covered to partly snow covered and there is reduced visibility. Ontario 511 is reporting reduced visibility on provincial highways in the area. That includes Highway 21 stretching from south of Bayfield north to Port Elgin. There is also reduced visibility on Highways 4, 8, 23, 9, 6 and 10 as well as Highway 89 heading east from Mount Forest.

County roads are also described as partly to mostly snow covered and visibility could be reduced because of squalls or blowing snow.

Both Bruce and Grey counties have declared significant weather events, meaning caution is to be observed when travelling on roads maintained by the counties and it may take longer than usual to bring the roads back to optimal conditions.

As of noon, the weather radar is showing some squalls coming off the lake between Goderich and Kincardine, up to Owen Sound. Wind is gusting west 30 to 50 km/h at times, which could lead to blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
