Provincial officials discuss back to school pan for some

While schools in Grey and Bruce will re-open Monday, those in Huron, Perth and Wellington will stay closed.

And that may have parents wondering why the difference.

Ontario's Associate Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Barbara Yaffe, says while there are many layers of protection in schools, there are also other things to consider.

"If the communinty infection rate is high, that's where it comes into the schoos," said Dr. Yaffe. "And it becomes unwieldly for the school for the health unit and for the kids. And they're families to have kids being sent home and whole cohorts being sent home frequently.

Dr. Yaffee says there are also plans to get rapid testing to long term care and retirement homes and schools.
