Unemployment rate decreases in March for Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region

The unemployment rate dipped slightly last month in the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region.

In a release on April 9th, the Four County Labour Market Planning Board says in March, the unemployment rate in the region decreased by 0.5 percent from 7.1 percent to 6.6. At the same time, the provincial unemployment rate decreased to 9.1 percent, with both rates unadjusted for seasonality. Overall net employment in the area increased by 400, with full-time gains at 700 offset by some part time losses. The number of goods-producing sector employees increased by a net gain of 2,100. The main increase came from significant gains in utilities with 2,200 jobs, which was the third straight month of an increase in that sector.

Job postings in the Bruce, Grey, Huron and Perth area have increased since the pandemic and can be found at: http://www.connect2JOBS.ca.
