North Huron to use reserve funds to pay for damaged wells in Blyth

North Huron Council has been forced to utilize $75-thousand dollars from its reserves to offset repair costs for a pair of wells in Blyth.

Council received a report during its most recent meeting showing inspections of four wells in the area, one of which has a leak in the casing above the static water level discovered during a video inspection.

This leak must be fixed before an inspection of a nearby well can be completed.

Reeve Bernie Bailey compared the repair to a flat tire, and that the wells must be fixed immediately.

Bailey did note that the size of the repair has caused North Huron to re-examine its protocols around maintenance checks for wells moving forward.
