Police charge 5 people for failing to follow Stay-At-Home orders

The Owen Sound Police Service have charged 5 people for disobeying the provincial stay-at-home orders this past weekend.

On April 25th just after midnight, Owen Sound Police Service officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance in the parking lot of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. Police found 5 people having an illegal social gathering. Based on the current stay-at-home orders by the provincial government, police charged two 20-year-old men, an 18-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman and a 16-year-old male, issuing each an $880 ticket for breaching the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

Police would like to remind the public that as long as the stay-at-home order is in effect, everyone is required to stay home except for essential purposes, which does not include social gatherings. Police would like to stress that it is important to take this seriously and stay home.
