The Grey-Bruce Labour Council have voiced a strong opinion on the province's proposed paid sick day plan.
In a release on April 30th, the GBLC says that the 3 day paid sick day program is "woefully inadequate" and GBLC President Kevin Smith didn't hold back with his assessment of the plan from Doug Ford's Conservatives.
“The fact of the matter is that the three days of paid sick leave plan just announced is an act of cowardice, cowardice beyond description," says Smith.
The release from the GBLC also states that a 10 days of paid sick leave plan was required long before COVID-19 made its way to Ontario. The release also took a healthy run at local MPPs that are part of Doug Ford's cabinet, stating "to suggest that such a need is now met through three days of non-legislated paid sick days is the repugnant face of Conservatism and the shameful face on enablers like MPP Bill Walker and MPP Lisa Thompson."
The Grey-Bruce Labour Council also claims in their release that Ford's government does not care about the wellbeing of workers, including frontline staff, and only "caters to the rich."
