Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker recently announced additional provincial funding for hospitals in his riding.
In a release last week, Walker announced that 11 hospitals in his riding will split just over 5.7 million dollars in operating funding beginning in 2022. That includes hospitals within Grey Bruce Health Services, including Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Owen Sound, Southampton and Wiarton. Hospitals in the South Bruce Grey Health Centre jurisdiction are included, featuring Durham, Kincardine and Walkerton. Hanover and District Hospital will also be included in this funding announcement.
The funding increases are coming from the "Protecting People's Health and our Economy" portion of the Ontario Action Plan, announced by the provincial government in their 2021 budget.
“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our local hospitals have gone above and beyond to provide exceptional care to patients and families in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound,” says Walker. “This new investment is just one way Ontario is supporting high-quality and timely access to health care both during the pandemic and in the future.”
