The nation remembers and honours those of the past and present

Many gatherings will be taking place across the region in honour of Remembrance Day today.

And while the ceremonies at cenotaphs may look more normal, there are still some words of caution.

Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth, Dr. Miriam Klassen, says it’s vital everyone continues to practice public health measures to avoid the possible spread of COVID-19.

“If you’re planning to observe Remembrance Day by attending a public event, please remember to stay home if you have symptoms, even if they’re mild, wear a mask or face covering indoors and outdoors if physical distancing cannot be maintained or is required, and wash your hands or use alcohol based hand sanitizer frequently,” said Klassen.

Dr. Klassen also suggests considering attending ceremonies virtually, if you are immunocompromised or at a higher risk of contracting the virus.

Our stations, CKNX AM 920, 101.7 The One and CoOL 94.5 will pause at 11 a.m. for Remembrance Day.
