Warmer-than-normal temperatures expected to begin December in Midwestern Ontario

Environment Canada's outlook for Midwestern Ontario weather is suggesting warmer-than-normal temperatures to begin the month of December.

The federal department says cool air will make way for warmer than normal temperatures through the first week of the month, and this pattern is expected to continue until the middle of the month.

Steven Flisfeder is a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, and says when it comes to Midwestern Ontario over the next couple of days, we should expect "a system on its way towards Lake Huron that will give milder temperatures and rain some showers. Bit of a flip of the switch in that regard for the month of December".

Flisfeder says cooler air will return to the region around the middle of the month as temperatures consistently creep closer to the freezing mark. As that happens, "lake effect snow is likely to occur in the usual snowbelts with the passage of each system across the Great Lakes".
