The sixth annual Hike for Hospice was a resounding success, exceeding Huron Sores Hospice's $60,000 fundraising goal by almost $20,000.
169 registered hikers, alongside family and virtual hikers, combined to raise a total of $78,488.96.
Bruce Power was a major contributor, though the company's cheque presentation didn't work out as planned.
The top fundraising team for the event was the Nuclear Powered Design Team, which raised $18,997.
The top individual fundraiser was Shelly Parker, who brought in $6,822.68, followed closely by David Kennedy in second place and Keith Battler in third.
Participants were able to choose whether to hike a full 5 km through the trails or take a short walk around the outdoor or indoor track.
Huron Shores Hospice is a charitable not-for-profit, volunteer-driven, community-funded residential hospice, providing quality end-of-life care, at no cost, to residents of Kincardine, Huron-Kinloss, Saugeen Shores and surrounding areas.
