Sidewalks and businesses in downtown Kincardine reopened Wednesday morning after eleven businesses were vandalised.
After several people responded to calls for help in the clean-up, their efforts lead to a quick turnaround.
South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) say 11 counts of mischief have been laid against a Niagara Region man. The accused is set to appear in court in Walkerton to answer to the charges.
“We want to thank the many contractors, volunteers, business owners, employees, Lavis Contracting, and municipal staff who were quick to offer a hand in getting our downtown cleaned up,” said Cherie Leslie, Community Economic Development Coordinator. “It was a tough day, but Kincardine comes together when needed most. What an incredible example of community spirit.”
“Come downtown to shop, eat, and explore,” said Amanda Goetz, Downtown Development Manager for the Lakeside Downtown Kincardine BIA. “Our businesses need your support, through this incident and the construction project.”
Goetz pointed to their Downtown Dig Shop and Dine Passport and their Lakeside Live Summer Music Series.
“There’s lots to do in the heart of our community this summer. We’re open for business and can’t wait to see you,” she said.
