Biggest turnout yet at annual Central Huron Mayor's Mingle

Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn hosted his annual Mayor's Mingle this past Sunday at the Clinton Race Track.

Ginn says the event is a very effective way for people to get to meet their councillors and voice what's on their minds.

“I usually give an update just to let people know what we're doing," said Ginn. "The whole idea is that it's a relaxed atmosphere and people can come up and talk to any council member if they have an issue, thought, or something they think we should be doing. It's a two-way conversation for sure.”

Ginn says people seem to enjoy the event based on the way it attracts more people every year.

“When we first started we had about 60," he said. "Two or three years ago, it bumped up to 200 and then last year, I think there was about 350. I'm sure there's at least that many this year as well.”

Jennifer Cox is a new member on council. This was her first Mayor's Mingle as a councillor.

“It's been great, a lovely day at the races," said Cox. "It didn't rain, lots of kids out playing, families, it's been really nice. I've been talking to more people, people that I don't actually know, which is good.”
