If you've still got some cleaning up to do from the holidays, the Kincardine Scouts are available to help.
This Saturday, they'll be running a Bottle Drive and Christmas Tree pickup to raise funds for camping trips in the coming year.
Fundraising coordinator Ilinca Papaz says, because the group is only a year old, it's still trying to determine which fundraisers are most effective.
"I think we're just trying to see what works best," she said. "Hopefully once we have a few successful ones, then we can just stick to certain set amounts every year, that way our families have knowledge ahead of time of what we're going to do with fundraising."
The Scouts already have around 60 kids and 20 volunteers helping to run the programming. They'll be going door-to-door to collect bottles in certain Kincardine neighbourhoods on Saturday.
You can also arrange a pick-up on other days by filling out a form, or drop off bottles at 428 Queen Street or 102 Krystal Court.
Papaz says the Christmas Tree pick-up was an idea that has worked in the past and aids multiple groups at once.
"There's another group that did it years ago, but I forget what town they're from," said Papaz. "For them, it was a very successful fundraiser, the Christmas tree recycling one. For us, we have the advantage of taking it to the Bervie Zoo, so then we're helping them out as well."
Trees that aren't able to go to the zoo due to tinsel or decorations, will be composted at the Kincardine Landfill.
The Scouts ask for a minimum $20 donation for a tree pickup, that can be made in cash, by cheque or e-transfer.
To schedule a Christmas Tree pick-up you must fill out an online form by Friday at 3 p.m.
And for those that want to make a contribution to the organization at any time, you can make an e-transfer to: treasurer@kincardinescouts.ca
