Stratford police warn of new scam

If you receive a call from a man claiming to be with the Princess Margaret Hospital Lottery, Stratford Police Service say you should be skeptical.

Police said they received several calls from people this week who were contacted by the suspected scammer.

The caller reportedly tells people they won $2.9 million and a Dodge Ram pickup truck. The man then says he'll visit their residence and asks that they have a pre-paid Visa ready to provide him so they can collect the prize.

Police said thankfully none of the people that reported the caller lost any money or disclosed any personal information.

If anyone has received similar calls, they're encouraged to report them to Stratford Police Service at 519-271-4141 ext. 2.
