Long-time Bruce County resident named new CAO of Arran-Elderslie

The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie has tapped a long-time Bruce County resident with nearly two decades of municipal experience to be its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Emily Dance has been appointed to the position, Mayor Steve Hammell announced.

"Council is looking forward to working with Emily and to assist her in the continued implementation of the corporate strategic plan and strong municipal governance," Hammell said in a statement.

Dance was most recently the CAO of the Township of Billings. Prior to that she served as the Municipal Clerk for the Township of Huron-Kinloss and held administrative roles in the Municipality of Kincardine. She is a certified municipal officer and has a public administration and governance certificate from Toronto Metropolitan University.

"I am honoured to join the team as the chief administrative officer for Arran-Elderslie," said Dance. "I look forward to working in partnership with council, staff, and the community to build on our strengths and address our challenges."

Dance replaces current CAO Sylvia Kirkwood, who will be retiring on August 2. Dance has said her leadership will focus on

collaboration and open communication with staff and the public. She also hopes to foster strong community relationships and support staff to ensure municipal initiatives are achieved.

Dance's first day on the job will be August 6.
