Perth County has launched a new page dedicated to coyote reporting in the area.
The new webpage contains information and resources to educate the public on coyotes and the dangers they can pose. It will also serve as a data collection resource to track the presence of coyotes in the area.
A new page can be found alongside a reporting form at PerthCounty.ca/Coyotes. Information included on the page covers ways to prevent potential interactions with coyotes, and what to do if you spot them.
By reporting sightings, the public will help gather important data that will inform staff and Council on the frequency and locations of interactions. This is the first such initiative in Perth County.
“We’ve heard concerns from the community about coyote sightings and interactions in the County,” said Perth County Warden Rhonda Ehgoetz. “Council is taking action by providing a central resource with helpful educational information about coyotes. I encourage the public to learn more and use the new form to report any sightings to help us learn more about the presence of coyotes in our region.”
The new website also contains helpful links about who to contact about wildlife in each municipality. Resources include:
