Charges laid following New Year's day dog attack

West Grey police arrested a 69-year-old woman on Tuesday, following an investigation into an animal attack that left a man with serious life-altering injuries.

Police said they were initially called to the Glenelg Holland Townline in the Municipality of West Grey on New Year's day for a reported animal attack.

According to police, an individual was jogging along the roadway when he was attacked by approximately 5-10 dogs, for several minutes.

"The victim was aided by passersby in a vehicle who assisted the injured party and transported him to the Brightshores Health Systems Markdale Hospital with serious life-altering injuries," police said in a release. As of January 15, the victim is still in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries.

Following a joint investigation by West Grey Police, West Grey Animal Services, and Grey Bruce Public Health a criminal charge has been laid in connection to the incident.

A 69-year-old woman was arrested and charged with one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
