Parts of midwestern Ontario could see up to 10 cm of snow Monday

Snowblowers will be fired back up again in parts of midwestern Ontario Monday.

Environment Canada is calling for 5 to 10 centimetres of snow to fall throughout the morning and afternoon, prompting a winter weather travel advisory for Bruce Peninsula, south Bruce County, and Grey County.

The national weather agency warned there is also a risk of freezing drizzle before the snow begins to fall.

"Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow," the Environment Canada advisory warned.

Drivers are advised to adjust their speed accordingly and to leave extra space between vehicles.

There is also snow in the forecast for Huron and Perth counties, but it is a smaller amount. Those regions could see 2 to 4 centimetres fall Monday. With the daytime high expected to rise above the freezing mark the amount of accumulation could be lower if the snow switches over to rain.
