Messy Friday evening commute possible for parts of midwestern Ontario

Residents in some parts of midwestern Ontario are getting ready to shovel again.

An Alberta Clipper is set to bring snow that will be heavy at times to the region starting late Friday morning, according to Environment Canada.

Ahead of the system's arrival, the national weather agency has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Grey County, Bruce Peninsula, South Bruce, and northern Wellington County. A snowfall warning was originally issued for Bruce Peninsula, but was downgraded to a winter weather travel advisory late in the morning.

The advisory warns between 5 to 10 centimetre of snow could fall. The heaviest snow will come in the afternoon and is expected to make for a messy evening commute.

"Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance," Environment Canada advised drivers.

The snow will possibly mix with rain before tapering off Friday night.
