Huron Perth Public Health says unvaccinated residents that went to local hospitals or a Listowel pharmacy over the weekend may have been exposed to measles.
According to the Health Unit, there were six possible exposure incidents in healthcare settings over the weekend.
The first came at the Listowel Hospital Emergency Department on Friday, March 28, from just after 9 a.m. until 12:21 p.m.
There was another exposure event in Listowel on Saturday, March 29, at the the IDA Listowel Pharmacy and Care Clinic from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
Stratford General Hospital also experienced an exposure Friday, March 28 in its Emergency Department waiting room from 11:10 a.m. to 1:10 p.m.
Finally, the Wingham and District Hospital had three such events over the weekend:
Friday, March 28, from 9:39 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
Saturday, March 29 from 12 a.m. to 1:15 a.m.
Sunday, March 30 from 1:49 p.m. to 6 p.m.
If you were present at the location during this timeframe and are not up to date with measles vaccinations, HPPH is asking you to reach out at 1-888-221-2133 ext. 3299.
The Health Unit says this includes those who were present at the location only briefly as measles is highly contagious and can linger in the air for up to two hours.
Measles symptoms begin seven to 21 days after exposure to the virus and include fever, runny nose, cough, red eyes and a red blotchy rash.
