Wellington North accepting nominations for sporting achievements

The Township of Wellington North is accepting nominations for its Outstanding Sports Achievements Program.

Through the program, council is able to take the opportunity to recognize sports teams based in Wellington North, or athletes who are residents of Wellington North, who have won a championship or award at a provincial, national or international level, or have achieved the highest championship or award possible in their sport.

Teams or athletes that are recognized will be invited to the Wellington North Council Chambers in Kenilworth on Wednesday, May 7 for an awards ceremony.

At that ceremony, Mayor Andy Lennox will present recipients with a certificate signed by the Mayor, and recipients will have their photo taken to be shared with the community on social media and local media outlets.

The policy outlining the criteria of the program, as well as an application form to recommend teams and athletes for recognition, can be found the Township’s website: www.wellington-north.com/sports-recognition-nomination. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, May 2 at 4:30 p.m.
