Grey Sauble Conservation moving to temporary new home next week

With its headquarters about to undergo its first major renovation in roughly 50 years, Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA) is getting ready to move to a temporary home in Owen Sound.

The conservation authority's administration centre at 237897 Inglis Falls Road will close its doors at end of day next Tuesday. Regular operations will then be halted for the rest of the week as workers begin the process of relocating to 901 3rd Avenue East, Suite 215. The move is expected to be completed by next Friday with the conservation authority to open at its temporary spot above the post office on April 14.

"During this transition, service delays may occur as staff settle into the new space," the conservation authority said in a statement. "Additionally, some online services will be temporarily unavailable from April 10 to April 14, including the Intent to Cut online form for those harvesting trees in Grey County, and the online permit application form for GSCA’s Environmental Planning Department."

The move is being done to allow for the Inglis Falls Road building to get a much needed update that will enhance accessibility, improve efficiency, and modernize the facility. This will be the first time the building has undergone a major renovation since opening in the mid-1970s, the conservation authority said.

Parking at the Inglis Falls Arboretum may be reduced and public washrooms at the Arboretum pavilion may not always be available during the construction. The conservation authority's phone number will remain unchanged at 519-376-3076 despite the temporary move.

The renovation is expected to take approximately one year to complete.
