Nature enthusiasts are being encouraged to visit Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) properties to help mark its 75th anniversary.
The conservation authority has launched a new explore program to celebrate the milestone. The program invites the public to visit any seven SVCA locations before Canada Day and take a picture with signage or an identifiable feature at each spot. The photos can then be uploaded to www.saugeenconservation.ca/2025Explore for a chance to win a prize.
“We’re proud to celebrate 75 years of conserving and protecting our local ecosystems alongside local communities," Conservation Authority General Manager Erik Downing said in a statement. "The explore program gives everyone a fun opportunity to connect with nature, learn about the conservation efforts that sustain these beautiful spaces, and be a part of this significant milestone for Saugeen Conservation.”
Conservation properties include the administration office in Formosa, Allan Park, Brucedale, Denny’s Dam, Durham, Mildmay/Carrick, the new conservation area at Glenelg, Hardwood Hill, Kinghurst, McGowan Falls, Saugeen Bluffs, Schmidt Lake, Stoney Island, and Sulphur Spring.
The grand prize winner of the contest will be presented with a special package that includes camping goods, a seven-night camping gift certificate, and a three-year membership pass.
Other prizes up for grabs are three-year membership passes, seven night camping gift certificates, a framed print of the conservation area, and a gift basket of outdoor adventure materials.
The winners will be contacted after the contest closes on July 1.
