The City of Owen Sound is inviting residents to share their thoughts on the quality, reliability, and availability of local infrastructure through a new online survey open until Friday, May 2 at noon.
The survey, available at OurCity.OwenSound.ca/AMP, is part of the City’s ongoing Asset Management planning. It covers City-owned assets such as roads, sidewalks, parks, playgrounds, sports fields, arenas, and community centres.
City staff say public input will help shape the proposed “Levels of Service” for each infrastructure category—essentially defining how well these assets are expected to perform over the long term. This feedback will guide future investment and maintenance priorities.
Levels of Service are based on three main factors:
Quality: The condition of the infrastructure, like the smoothness of roads or the upkeep of recreation facilities.
Reliability: Whether facilities are consistently open and operating as expected.
Availability: How accessible infrastructure is, including proximity to parks or capacity of roadways during peak times.
The City clarifies that this survey is not focused on daily operations like snow removal or garbage collection, but instead on how the infrastructure itself performs and supports community needs.
Residents who prefer offline formats can request alternate survey options by emailing communications@owensound.ca. Public questions about the initiative can also be submitted via the online platform.
