The current administrator of a Walkerton long-term care home will soon take over all senior services for Bruce County.
The county announced on Monday that Emily Kussmann has been promoted to the role of director of long-term care and senior services. In her new position, Kussmann will oversee the delivery of long-term care at Brucelea Haven in Walkerton and Gateway Haven in Wiarton. She will also provide leadership to Bruce County’s age friendly community initiative.
“I am very pleased to offer congratulations to Emily Kussmann, our new director of long-term care and senior services," said Bruce County Warden Luke Charbonneau. "Emily’s leadership is vital to continuing our service excellence and ensuring Bruce County is an age-friendly home to all residents."
Kussmann has been working for Bruce County since January 2022 when she took over as the administrator of Brucelea Haven. She has a bachelor’s degree in gerontology and a master’s degree in community care health administration. Additionally, Kussmann has more than 10 years of experience working in long-term care.
She will begin her new role with the county on May 26.
