Over $52K in donations 'cruise' in for Kincardine hospital expansion

A fundraiser for the upcoming expansion at the Kincardine hospital brought in more than $52,000, despite being cut short by rain and thunderstorms.

Car enthusiasts gathered on June 27 for the Giving Cruise Day to check out classic cars that lined Queen Street between Lambton Street and Durham Market Street North in Kincardine. The event, organized by the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, the fundraising arm of the local hospital, ended less than two hours after it started due to the wet weather.

"It's amazing what we accomplished in less than two hours. Our community didn't let the rain stop them, and the MRI will make a real difference for patients here in Kincardine," said Stephanie Farrell, the newest member of the foundation's board of directors, who along with her husband Todd had agreed to matched the donations given up to $25,000.

The foundation has been working to raise $18 million for the expansion and to purchase a much-needed MRI for the health care facility.
