Bruce Power is inviting residents who live near its site to take part in two important surveys aimed at better understanding community lifestyle patterns and local health conditions. The 2025 Local Population Survey opens August 1 and runs until September 9, targeting people who live within 10 kilometres of the Bruce Power facility and those involved in the company’s Environmental Monitoring Program.
The main survey will collect information about local food and water consumption, as well as recreational activities such as swimming and fishing. This data is critical to Bruce Power’s ongoing environmental protection efforts. The last population survey of this kind was conducted in 2015.
“Bruce Power is committed to protecting the people who live near our site and it’s a community that shares our passion about the protection of the environment,” said Danielle LaCroix, Senior Director, Environment and Sustainability. “We continually engage with local communities, including residents and Indigenous Nations and communities, to better understand their needs and expectations.”
A second, shorter survey is also being conducted to collect anonymous information about the health and well-being of people in the area. The data will be used to help establish baseline conditions for the Bruce C Project Impact Assessment and will be included in the Bruce C Impact Statement.
Survey participants who choose to provide contact information will have their identities kept confidential. A summary of the survey findings will be made available to the public later this year on the Bruce Power website.
Eligible residents will receive a postcard in the mail with instructions on how to complete the surveys.
