Minto Youth Market to spotlight young entrepreneurs

The Minto Chamber of Commerce is inviting the community to its inaugural Youth Summer Market on Saturday, August 9, highlighting the talents of local young entrepreneurs.

Running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Old Post Building at 39 Elora Street South in Harriston, the market will feature youth vendors, many of them current or past participants in the SSUP (Student Start Up) Program, a Saugeen Connects initiative that’s been helping youth launch business ideas since 2019.

"This is a fantastic way to foster entrepreneurship among our youth and give them real-world experience in business," said Raisa Abrahim, Business Development Coordinator with the Minto Chamber. "Seeing the talent that has emerged from programs like SSUP is truly inspiring."

The market will run alongside the Harriston Street Party, adding to a day that will include a Kids Zone with a bounce castle, face painting, balloon animals, and a live DJ.

Food will also be available from May’s Café and BBQ, a new business located downtown Harriston.

"We are incredibly excited to host this Youth Summer Market," Abrahim added. "More importantly, it’s a chance for our community to come together, celebrate local talent, and enjoy a fun-filled day."

Admission is free, and purchases from vendors will directly support the youth entrepreneurs. The event is part of the Minto Chamber’s broader effort to support business development and community engagement.
