Library Month celebrated in West Grey

The West Grey Library’s annual book sale is back this month, offering readers and bargain hunters a chance to stock up on great finds while supporting local library programs.

The sale will be held at the Durham Town Hall, running Friday, October 17, from 1 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features a vast selection of gently used items, including books for all ages, puzzles, DVDs, books on CD, and more.

Library staff encourage shoppers to arrive early for the best selection. Payment is by cash donation only.

Funds raised through the sale help enhance collections and activities across all three West Grey Library branches — Durham, Neustadt, and Ayton — as well as community outreach initiatives. Proceeds support programs such as monthly craft kits, WiFi-to-Go, summer reading activities, and Wonder Books for children.

In recognition of Canadian Library Month, the West Grey Library is also running a new library card campaign throughout October. Residents who have let their cards expire, are new to the area, or simply want to take advantage of the Library’s many free services are invited to drop into any branch with photo ID to sign up.

Each branch is also hosting a fun guessing game: visitors can try to estimate the number of miniature books, candy, stickers, and bookmarks in a jar. The closest guesses will win a loot bag filled with library-themed goodies.

For more information on library services, programs, or upcoming events, visit any West Grey Library branch or check out their website and social media pages.
