The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie is mourning the loss of Ross Herron, a dedicated public servant whose commitment to local government and community life spanned more than 30 years.
Herron served 29 years on Arran Township Council, including a decade as Reeve, and continued his work for seven more years as the Arran Ward representative following the township’s amalgamation. In 1987, he was elected Warden of Bruce County, a role in which he represented the county “with distinction and integrity,” according to a statement from the municipality. Known for his thoughtful leadership and deep care for the community, Herron was widely respected for his unwavering dedication to public service.
“Ross was a pillar of our community,” said Steve Hammell, Mayor of Arran-Elderslie. “His wisdom, humility, and tireless service made a lasting impact on our municipality and region. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.”
In honour of Herron, flags at municipal buildings will be lowered, and a moment of silence will be observed at the next council meeting.
