An influx of police officers, including those in full tactical gear, at a pair of Clinton high schools shouldn't be cause for concern on Friday.
Huron OPP are advising the public that members of its local detachment, the West Region OPP tactics and rescue unit and emergency response team will be conducting emergency response training exercises at Central Huron Secondary School and St. Annes Catholic Secondary School.
The training, which will run between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday, is being completed in partnership with the Avon Maitland District and Huron-Perth Catholic District school boards.
The planned scenarios will involving high risk situations including active attackers, police said.
"Integrated response training plays a crucial role in public and officer safety. Police-school collaboration enhances our emergency preparedness and supports community safety and wellbeing," said Huron OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Laura Lee Brown.
There will be no students at the school on the day of the training, as it is a P.A. Day.
The public can expect to see several emergency response vehicles and personnel in and around the school properties throughout the day.
