Province funding major road upgrades in Saugeen Shores

The provincial government is investing more than $4 million to improve key roads in Saugeen Shores.

Through the 2025-26 Connecting Links program, the province is providing $3 million to resurface Albert Street, Railway Street and North Rankin Street (part of Highway 21) from South Street to Craig Street in Southampton. Another $1.35 million will support upgrades at the Highway 21 and Turner Street intersection.

"Supporting critical infrastructure projects like this is key to building stronger, safer communities," said Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson. "The road resurfacing and intersection improvements in Saugeen Shores will enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and help position the community for continued growth."

Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau called the investment "vital," adding that it will improve safety and traffic flow for residents, businesses, and visitors while supporting the town’s growing population.

The Connecting Links program funds up to 90 per cent of eligible costs for municipal road and bridge projects, with up to $3 million available for road work and $5 million for bridge repairs.
