Bruce Power marks World Hospice Day with $100K boost for local end-of-life care

Hospices in Tiverton, Walkerton, and Clinton are getting a major boost to help families facing end-of-life journeys, thanks to a $100,000 donation from Bruce Power and its supplier partners.

The contribution was made in recognition of World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, observed annually to raise awareness and advocate for better access to care for people living with life-limiting illnesses.

“The availability of quality health care and the well-being of community are key focus areas for Bruce Power’s community investment strategy,” said Maggie Tieman, Bruce Power’s Director of Community and External Affairs. “Ensuring quality and dignified care is available through the full cycle of life is paramount, and Bruce Power and our supplier partners thank our hospices for all they do for local families.”

The funds will support programs that provide free, compassionate, and dignified care for patients and families at local hospices.

“We are deeply grateful to Bruce Power and its supplier partners for their generosity in honour of World Hospice and Palliative Care Day,” said Cathy Herbert, Executive Director of Huron Shores Hospice. "Their support helps ensure that families in our community have access to free, compassionate, dignified, end-of-life care close to home. The donation allows us to focus on what matters most – helping people live well until their last breath and making every moment count for them and their loved ones.”

Bruce Power’s donation reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening community health care and supporting services that help families through every stage of life.
