Respiratory outbreak declared at Lee Manor

Public Health has declared a respiratory outbreak in the 2 South home area at Lee Manor in Owen Sound.

Four residents are currently experiencing respiratory symptoms, with test results pending to determine the cause.

The affected residents are isolating and receiving care, and staff are working closely with Public Health to monitor the situation and prevent further spread. Roommates and high-risk contacts are also being closely watched.

“We are working with our Public Health partners and closely monitoring the situation,” the home said in a statement. “Enhanced infection control protocols are in place as we take swift action to halt the spread of the virus.”

As part of the outbreak response, universal surgical mask use is now required for all staff and visitors in the 2 South home area. Staff are following outbreak protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, including N95 or surgical masks, when entering isolation rooms. PPE signage has been posted, and residents in isolation are limited to one designated care partner.

Enhanced surveillance, infection control measures, and regular hand hygiene audits have also been implemented.

Lee Manor emphasized that the safety and well-being of residents, families, and staff remain the top priority. The home is also reminding anyone who feels unwell to refrain from visiting at this time.
