Snow squalls could return Wednesday night

Midwestern Ontarians are being told to get ready for another blast of lake effect snow.

Environment Canada has the region under a yellow level snow squall watch, advising squalls could develop off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay late Wednesday night and continue through Thursday.

The squalls could drop between 15 to 30 centimetres before weakening Thursday night.

"There is uncertainty with the exact locations of snow squalls that will develop and snowfall accumulations may be quite variable across the region," Environment Canada added.

Blowing snow is also expected to be an issue with winds to gust from the northwest up to 60 kilometres an hour. The national weather agency stated the squalls coupled with the strong winds will significantly reduce visibility and could lead to road closures.

Drivers are advised to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
