Applications open for Canada Summer Jobs program

Perth-Wellington MPP John Nater has announced that applications are now being accepted for the Canada Summer Jobs 2027 program.

Employers can apply to get funding to create summer job positions for young people in their area until December 3 this year. The application period has opened a week earlier than in previous years.

However, the notification period to let businesses know if they had a successful funding application remains the same, with notifications expected at the beginning of April 2027.

Canada Summer Jobs provides wage subsidies to support employers in creating quality work experiences for youth aged 15-30. Funding is available for not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers, and small businesses with under 50 employees.

To be eligible for funding, there is a new rule this year where businesses and organizations must have been operating for at least two years, unless they had an approved funding agreement in 2026.

More information on the program, including the 2027 application package, can be found on the Canada Summer Jobs website: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/funding/canada-summer-jobs.html

"Through Canada Summer Jobs, young Canadians have an opportunity to gain the skills and experience they need to get jobs now and in the future. I encourage employers to apply for funding to create jobs that will help students, employers, and our local economies. Last summer over 300 jobs were created across Perth—Wellington through the CSJ Program," MP Nater shared.
