Huron Shores Hospice opens third residential suite in Tiverton

Community members gathered in Tiverton to celebrate a major milestone for local end-of-life care.

On October 26, 2026, Huron Shores Hospice celebrated the grand opening of Serenity, its third residential hospice suite located at Tiverton Park Manor.

The third suite means the hospice can welcome more residents and support more families who need compassionate end-of-life care.

The new suite is designed to give local families a calm, comfortable environment to spend meaningful time together when it matters most, all provided free of charge thanks to community support.

Finding the right name for the new space was essential, so organizers turned directly to the public through a community survey.

"Serenity reflects a calm and gentle space to rest, breathe and share meaningful moments," noted one respondent. "The name also reflects the safety and respect that will be offered in respite care as well."

The name resonated deeply with the hospice team as well.

"Serenity is defined as a state of utter calm and unruffled repose or quietude - I believe this clearly aligns with the atmosphere we wish to create for our guests," noted Board member Diane Allingham-Hawkins.

"It is a very peaceful word…exactly what we want our space to be for our residents and their families," added Board vice-chair Tanya Leppington.

Bringing the suite to life was a true team effort, relying on local trades, volunteers, and generous donors to complete the work. Organizations like Plan B Construction, Ford Design, Elevation Engineering, SJ Plumbing, Blue Water Fire and Security, and Todd Electrical helped construct the room, while a dedicated opening committee oversaw the process.

Dozens of local businesses, foundations, and community members contributed the funding and resources required to make the space accessible and welcoming.
