The Kincardine Bulldogs continue to rattle some chains late in the the PJHL season.
Kincardine beat Wingham 3-2 in overtime for their fifth win in seven games to keep pace with Mitchell for third in the Pollock Divisions in the standings.
Wingham built a 2-0 lead in the game with goals by Rhys Vollmer in the first period and Justin Donnelly on the power play in the second period. Donnelly has averaged over a point a game since coming over to Wingham in a trade from Walkerton.
Kincardine scored on a power play of their own midway through the third period, courtesy of Brett Burrows. Then just over two minutes later, Jake Fair scored the equalizer.
After a messy end to the third period, Kincardine defencema Logan Swanton scored the winner at the 2:12 mark of overtime.
The third period was riddled with penalties including two fighting majors, handed to Kincardine's Jacob Traynor and Wingham's Logan Tolton. And Wingham's Chase Meurs was tagged with a gross misconduct for 'removal of opponent's/own helmet in the same stoppage.
There were also multiple cross-checking and head contact calls.
The Kincardine win leaves the Bulldogs one point behind Mitchell for third place while Wingham still has a three point edge on Mount Forest for first. But the Patriots have three games in hand, including a Wednesday night home game at 8:15 p.m. versus Mitchell. That's a make up game from Saturday's postponed schedule because of the weather.
