Sarnia-Lambton's active COVID-19 cases dropped below 200 Monday but Variants of Concern (VOCs) continue to rise.
Lambton Public Health reported that new confirmed cases increased by 26 to 2,804 while the number of recoveries went up 36 to 2,558. The active case count dropped by 11 to 197. Cases involving Variants of Concern have climbed to 89 since March 3 when the first positive screening was announced.
Active institutional, school and workplace outbreaks decreased by one to 14. There are six in long-term care and retirement homes including Rosewood Retirement Village where an outbreak declared March 23 has spread to 13 residents and one staff. Five schools are in outbreak and there are three active outbreaks at unnamed workplaces.
Bluewater Health had six COVID-positive patients in hospital Monday, up from five Sunday.
