UPDATE: Police investigate fatal collision on London Line

Sarnia police say a man has died following a single-vehicle crash on London Line Friday morning.

First responders were on scene between Blackwell Side Road and Exmouth Street at around 5 a.m.

The middle-aged driver was transported from the scene to hospital but died while en route.

Cst. John Sottosanti said police remain on scene.

"The vehicle ended up striking a hydro pole in the area. Having said that though, the investigation is still ongoing and there may be more information to follow," he said. "Currently our traffic unit investigators, along with our forensic identification office and criminal investigation officers will be investigating the matter."

Cst. Sottosanti said London Line between the Petro-Pass Truck Stop and Tim Hortons was closed, but reopened by mid-afternoon.

Anyone with information about this investigation is encouraged to contact Detective Constable Callander at 519-344-8861 ext. 6193.
