Franco-Ontarian flag raised in Sarnia

Over 200 local students gathered along the waterfront in Sarnia on Thursday to raise the Franco-Ontarian Flag.

The green and white flag flew for the first time on September 25, 1975 at Laurentian University in Sudbury.

It became the symbol of the Franco-Ontarian community and was officially recognized in 2001.

Thursday's flag raising in Sarnia was held at the Seaway Parkette at the foot of Lochiel Street, ahead of Franco-Ontarian Day on Sunday.
