Sarnia Sting goaltender Ben Gaudreau is heading to the Tampa Bay Lightning's Development Camp.
According to BayToday.ca, Gaudreau was invited to take part in the Bolt's camp, beginning July 2, after going undrafted in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
The 20-year-old Corbeil native was initially drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the third round of the 2021 draft. Gaudreau became draft eligible once again after not signing an entry-level deal with the Sharks prior to June 1, 2023.
Gaudreau helped lead the Sting to the club's first ever appearance in the OHL's Western Conference Final during the 2023 postseason. In 16 playoff games, Gaudreau went 10-5 with a 2.52 goals against average and a .902 save percentage.
During his three seasons in Sarnia, Gaudreau has a goal against average of 3.60, a save percentage of .890, and a record of 53-43-8-5 in 116 regular season games.
On the international stage, Gaudreau backstopped Team Canada to a gold medal at the 2021 U18 tournament -- he was also named the top goalie of the tournament. Gaudreau also played a backup role for Team Canada's gold-medal winning team at the 2023 World Juniors.
