Cathcart Boulevard intersections that have been closed over the summer for construction, remain on track to open before the new school year starts.
Sarnia's Manager of Development, Transportation and Engineering Alister Brown said the mini-roundabout construction at Cathcart Boulevard and Indian Road is progressing really well.
"So far to date things are on schedule, on budget, and we are looking forward to achieving our desired completion date of the Labour Day weekend," said Brown.
He said a lot of work has been completed.
"So far we have curbs in, the roundabout centre and splitter islands are in, along with the concrete flatwork, which is the sidewalks and driveway extensions," said Brown. "We have lighting going in and the landscaping was also recently completed. With that, what's left would be line painting, signage and the top coat of asphalt to go on with some additional concrete work to tidy up."

Brown said the project at the intersection of Cathcart Boulevard and Murphy Road is also going really well.
"We had a bit of a later start date there waiting for the school year to let out, but at the same time, we also anticipate that one will be open prior to the school year," he said. "We do have the curb in there, as well as some of the concrete flatwork. The fine grading is done, so we're just waiting for asphalt work and the traffic signal infrastructure to go in and then there will also be line painting and signage once that work's complete."
Brown reminds the public to continue to obey the closures.
"Especially with the roundabout, the base course of asphalt going down there, it looks passable, but the road is still legally closed until those signs come down," he said.
Brown said Sarnia police have had a presence in the area to monitor vehicular passage through the intersection, particularly outside of working hours.
"It's still a construction site and there are still safety risks involved with passing through there," he said.
